Lee felt that there was still room for casual clothing on the market, and so they released their first collections there. While the initial acceptance of the clothing style was poor, it turns out to be best selling as time passes. People started choosing denim products as their casual attire and soon spread the popularity of the brand. When Lee products became very successful in America, the company decided to venture to another countries and expand their scope to many different neighboring countries. When 1960's end, Lee had already established branches in 50 countries. The following year, Lee introduced yet again another form of fashion, this brand is now known as the Lee 101. The company felt that focusing on a single stream of clothing design would not be a better marketing strategy. With this idea, they created more informal attire which fits for casual fashion.

 

The Lee men's jeans was one of the main focus of the brand. Later on, Lee created other forms of clothing such as shorts, t-shirts and sweat shirts. National Denim Day was also established by Lee company in 1996. It is an event wherein participants are required to wear denim when working and give $5. This contribution was created to help the Breast Cancer patients. Today, Lee gradually expands their own trend of fashion through the 80's and 90's.

It could be the sturdy look of the jean that attracts many people. In 1950's, blue jeans was only worn by teenagers as a sign of protest to the system (government). Team University of the Pacific raised more than $2,500 so far as part of the Lee Denim Day promotion, which supports the American Cancer Society's fight against breast cancer. Funds collected through the Stockton campus stand at $691 at this time. However, the dental school's campaign, headed up by the pediatric clinic, had a runaway success with their October 12 event, which raised more than $2,200.

An initiative of Lee Jeans, Denim Day is a national fundraiser that has raised nearly $90 million for breast cancer research since its inception in 1996. In addition to soliciting $5 donations that gave participants the once-a-year ability to wear denim to work or school, the donations were supplement with proceeds from a bake sale.

"Wearing jeans to show support for the fight against breast cancer is a fun way to bring the dental school community together," said Magda Rinaldi, a Pediatric Clinic dental teaching assistant who co-coordinated the event.

The donations generated from nationwide participation in Denim Day support treatment and research, including the development of an early detection blood test in collaboration with the Breast Cancer Biomarker Discovery Project. Every Wednesday in October is Lee Denim Day. What is Lee Denim Days?

Donate $5 (for each Wednesday) and wear your favorite jeans and you'll support life saving screenings in communities nationwide. (CAC employees, please work with your supervisor to receive authorization to wear jeans before participating in this event).
You'll also provide hope and care for those traveling away from home for cancer treatment and are investing in groundbreaking cancer research. Not bad for a day's work, in your jeans.

To participate in this event simply obtain your Jeans for a Day sticker from any Student Leader at Aravaipa, Signal Peak, or Superstition Mountain Campus. When we receive your donation we will send you a Jeans for a Day sticker for each Wednesday and a breast cancer pink ribbon pin. What is a Blue Jean Pocket?

For a smaller donation you can post a Blue Jean pocket in memory or honor of someone that has battled the disease. All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society. Please join us in making a difference. These pockets will be displayed on a bulletin board in the student center and lounges on the three campuses.

For the past several years, students in Dr. Susan Kahlenberg's Health Communication class have participated in implementing Lee National Denim Day campaign at Muhlenberg College. On this day, Lee Jeans encourages millions of people nationwide to wear jeans and make a donation as part of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. LIM College is supporting Lee National Denim Day to help raise funds to fight breast cancer. From Sept. 29 through Oct. 2 you can make a donation in the Office of Student Life to support the Entertainment Industry Foundation's (EIF) women's cancer programs, which include support for:

• Lee Laboratories nationwide, which work to find more effective, less toxic treatments for breast cancer and increase patient access to some of the most significant clinical trials in the nation.

• A multi-year effort led by world-class scientists to develop a blood test for earlier detection of breast cancer

• Christina Applegate's foundation, Right Action for Women, which provides aid to individuals who are at increased risk for breast cancer and do not have insurance or financial resources to cover the cost of screenings
